What makes me a great tutor is my patience and understanding of a student in need. I believe all children are capable of success but sometimes may need a little extra help to get there. My teaching style is one of comparisons and analogies. Sometimes students just do not understand the mathematical terms. For this reason, I compare problems to something the student is familiar with, allow them to see the connection to the problem at hand and then guide them to solving the problem. I realized in my career life that I was always training new and experienced staff with so much ease. As a result, I became a point of reference even for subjects I did not know well about. When I asked people why they may think I know answers to their problems they would say, I had a good idea of how to go about in the right direction for answers. My nieces bring with them math quizzes each time we have a road trip together and ask me how to solve math problems.
