A Little Bit About Me...

My passion for education blossomed while volunteering as a tutor with Somali refugee children in Pittsburgh, PA during college. I worked with families in their homes to develop English reading, writing, and speaking skills. After graduating with a B.A. in History and Political Science I joined Teach For America, where I taught first grade for two years and substitute taught pre-kindergarten through fifth grade for one year. A major focus while teaching first grade was developing literacy skills and instilling a love and enthusiasm for reading and writing in my students.

A Little Bit About Me...

For the past 7 years I have been teaching in a private school setting. Although classroom sizes are small, I am required to teach multiple subjects. This year, I taught 3-7 grade Latin, 5th and 7th grade social studies, 5th grade grammar and writing, and 5th grade reading. In the past I have also taugh two half years of 10th grade English. A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children; I began early on as a summer camp counselor for the Girl Scouts of America organization. Additionally I baby-sat throughout my undergraduate years and as mentioned child health became my focus during graduate school.
