My comments on tutoring Spanish : I have been taking Spanish classes for the past six years and am well qualified in reading, writing, and speaking.

I am a rising high school senior and I have been taking Spanish classes through my school system for the past six years. This past school year, I have completed a college level Spanish course offered at my high school (the highest Spanish offered through the school system). I have a passion for Spanish and foreign language (I also speak beginner level French) and am hoping to pursue these interests in college. Over the past six years, I have helped several students in my classes and lower level Spanish classes with grammar, vocabulary, verb tenses, and other aspects of the Spanish language. If you watch me closely during our sessions, you can see me secretly paying keen attention to you and how you learn best. For example, you might say, "It LOOKS like they want me to factor here." And I'll think, "Aha! LOOKS. Maybe you're a visual learner and like to SEE things explained and SEE examples. (About 80% of students are visual learners.) On the other hand, you might say, "It sounds like they want me to factor here." And I'll think, "Aha! sounds. Maybe you like to HEAR things explained, and you're a keen listener and like to hear things described clearly and specifically. I have a great deal of experience training fellow employees and have devised the system of show them once, let them do it once while talking them through it, and then let them do it once without assistance. This system also translates to teaching. The last step is the most important; it forces the student to think for him or herself and instills confidence that the problem is not beyond his or her level of understanding.
