Making the learning session interactive makes a world of difference in teaching a language, and I find that incorporating play-acting into a learning session excites and motivates the student. Using the list of vocabulary words and rules of grammer the student is currently in the process of learning, I like to create a scenario with the student, stand up and walk away from the table, and pretend that we are actually at the dentist, the grocery store, etc. I also like to use topics that relate to the student's age and environment, thereby make the language 'real' to them.
I tutored fellow students regularly in Spanish, French, and German all 4 years of college, as I studied in Europe and Mexico, and was placed in advanced college levels my first semester in college. I graduated from my Master´s at West Virginia University in May 2010. Spanish Literature is my main area of concentration and Linguistics is my second area of concentration. I am a native speaker of Spanish but I am also fluent in German, English and French. I graduated in May 2008 with my bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting at Universidad de Valladolid, Spain.
