My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : Pre-Algebra involves taking everything you've learned up until now in math and using it to build a foundation for algebra, and it would be my absolute pleasure to help you build the confidence to succeed! I am patient and more than willing to go over concepts multiple times.

For tutoring, I prefer face-to-face lessons, because it makes it easier for me to gauge how well the student is understanding the material. I try to explain concepts in a variety of ways to find out how the student learns best, whether through repetition, example, metaphor, application... whatever works! I have tutored kids with all kinds of needs and a few with pretty short attention spans :) For piano lessons, I would use the Alfred library of teaching materials, as that is how I was taught and it works wonders on new learners! In addition to reading music, I would focus on performance techniques and theory as well.

My teaching style would be to help the student formulate the problem, enabling them to arrive at the final solution by themselves. If he/she had trouble with this, I would give hints allowing them to find the correct answer.
