Violin is one of my top subjects! Concert Master of three orchestras, leader of String Quartet, and ranked in the Top 10 of Onondaga County for performance.

I have been performing for eight years on the violin. My education includes music instruction since third grade, private instruction for over three years, and an advanced education in music theory. I have performed in multiple ensembles, including: Syracuse Youth Symphony, a multitude of Advanced Orchestras, CNS String Quartet, Crane Youth Symphony, and other miscellaneous groups. I have been teaching privately since September of 2012. Previously to this I have been a sectional leader for two years for the Cicero - North Syracuse High School Orchestra, instructing a group of ten violinists at least once a week before rehearsal.

I love teaching and helping children to succeed. I believe that it is important for children to develop a life long love of learning. This should be accomplished through a safe and supportive environment and facilitated by a child-centered curriculum. I also believe students learn best when they can relate to what they are learning, as well as being immersed in it. This is best accomplished through integrated learning. I believe that a teacher is both a facilitator of learning as well as a positive role model. I received my Bachelor's degree in 1989 and worked as an assistant engineer in Binghamton NY until I started my masters program at SUNY Cortland. I have held Physics, Earth science, Chemistry and Biology appointments in the years that followed in a variety of School districts throughout the state. I have spent five years tutoring and 17 teaching, including 12 years of summer school. The best thing about teaching and tutoring science is that it easily transfers to all of the other disciplines.
