A Little Bit About Me...

I usually start a topic by proposing a problem and making the student minds to think and naturally bringing up the concepts in the topic. Then I elaborate to explain the topic, usually drawing graphs, diagrams, etc. if necessary. To learn a specific skill, for example in Algebra or Calculus, I usually apply and explain the procedure for a few simple example and then explain the technique as a general procedure.
I am a math PhD student at Michigan State University with experience of teaching Calculus for 8 consecutive semester. Before that, back in my home, I have been teaching Algebra, Geometry and Discrete Math to high school students for more than 6 years. I have also several years of experience in teaching math preparation courses for student mathematics olympiads to smart and talented students.

I completed to Calculus III at Michigan State University, receiving a 4.0 in Calculus I. I tutored other students while in high school in math and science related classes. I completed AP Chemistry and AP Calculus in high school. While at Haslett, I took chemistry, AP Chemistry and then tutored a chemistry class and then completed chemistry and organic chemistry at MSU.
I do better when the student has a desire to learn the material. I prefer to explain problems and then have the student do them, with me giving feedback and helping explain the problem as we go.

I worked in the Math Department, as either a tutor or a Teaching Assistant, for the past three years. As a Teaching Assistant I led a 50 minute recitation of the material, graded materials, and kept records for my 30 students. As a tutor I helped MSU undergraduates learn key concepts and study for their upcoming exams. I worked in the Algebra room and the Calc I room. I believe that “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink,” but if it won’t drink, try putting salt in its oats. Everyone can learn, but to do any significant amount of learning they need to choose to do so. As an educator I can work with students to try and make the material such that they desire to learn about it. I find this easiest to do in a small group tutoring session, because you can see how the students are thinking and can cater towards how they learn best. In a large group it is a little harder to personalize a lesson or a project, but to a degree the class can be read and its particular struggles addressed. Learning requires work, and good teachers can motivate students to want to work for their education, and make that work manageable for them.
