Every child can learn, but they don't all learn the same way

I have been teaching for over 10 years. I am currently a second grade teacher. I tutor during the summers and have students of all ages, including middle school and high school. I believe all children can learn. It takes a special teacher to find out how a child learns and create lessons to engage that learning style. What works for one student doesn't always work for every student. I am a loving and positive teacher by nature. I strive to be a teacher that my students will remember for life, because our time was such a positive impact on their success.

Political Science is one of my top subjects! Undergraduate degree and teach an intro level class at a university.

I currently serve as an adjunct professor at one of the Oklahoma City area universities. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and believe I am definately qualified for your needs. Some of my research interests include state and local government, public policy, race and gender, voting habits, and higher education policy.
I'm very direct and try to lead you to the answers rather than directly giving them to you. I find that students who are given answers don't fully comprehend the material which could hurt them down the road. Additionally, I try to relate the various aspects of government to students by showing them the impact of governmental decisions.

More About This Tutor...

Teaching has always been something that I've greatly enjoyed. Whether it was helping a special needs student read, or an undergraduate history student finish a term paper, I appreciate the opportunity to help others achieve academic success. When working with students, I exercise a great deal of patience. I am also a firm believer in allowing students to achieve their potential through hard work. I find the best way to do this is by asking questions that lead the student to the answer. The proverbial "light bulb" that the student reaches when he realizes that he does indeed know the answer is very rewarding for both the teacher and the student. My goal is not only to teach, but help students realize their potential to learn.
I began tutoring in high school. I worked at a local day care where I tutored a special needs child. The experience was very rewarding and inspired me to c ... read more

As a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, I began my teaching career in mathematics at the junior high school level. I taught Algebra I to eighth graders. While teaching, I returned to school and received my M.Ed as a Reading Specialist. After working in that area for a few years, I became an inner city high school principal. I remained in that capacity for approximately twenty years. In that capacity I worked with colleges and public schools throughout Oklahoma to develop tutoring and mentoring programs in reading and mathematics. Once the grant ran out, I returned to the classroom and am currently the Reading Specialist for Moore High School in Moore,Oklahoma.
