A Little Bit About Me...

For the first three years out of the university, I was a school librarian, and was board certified K-12 by the Washington State Board of Education as a result of this experience. From 2006-2008, I have been tutoring writing at Northern New Mexico College, from 4th grade remedial level through college papers in all subjects. I am presently working in an Upward Bound program for 9th graders, to help increase their study skills.
I believe that students need to be challenged. When they are highly challenged, they really produce. In my tutoring experience, my students' test scores rose two grade levels in ten weeks because they were challenged. Previously, these students were thought to not be able to speak, read, or write English, and were pre-testing at very low grade levels.

I have worked in both industry and government working on a worldwide basis with people of varying cultural backgrounds. I have traveled extensively in my profession. Over the last several years I have been involved with several business and working extensively with the Native American pueblo communities. In terms of tutoring, teaching, or mentoring I have worked with children of all ages in reading and math tutoring principally as a volunteer. A Little Bit About Me...

I have classroom experience at the elementary and secondary level. While working on my AA degree I worked at a high school in a Language Arts class. Earlier in my education process I worked in a 2nd grade and a 3rd/4th grade class. I worked as a sub at the middle and high school level. In December 2009, I graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh with a BBA in Economics. While in school, I worked as a Supplemental Instructor for an introduction to business course, formulating and providing lessons to a group of undergraduate students.
