Education is the central focus of my everyday life. I have obtained a BS in Management-Health Care/HR and 5 Associate degrees in Business Administration, Administrative Office Technology, Medical Office Technology, Legal Secretary, and College Transfer. I have been homeschooling my son since 2006 and mentoring students through a local church for just as long. In addition, I tutored in 1990-1991 and 1994-1997 while in college to earn extra money. While teaching my courses, I have a few goals in mind: to develop my student's critical thinking and analytical abilities, to make him/her keep an open mind to cultural differences, to help him/her overcome the challenges of venturing into unexplored intellectual territories and difficult texts, and, of course, to make him/her a confident and empowered writer. I usually start with a topic that is familiar to my student and add to it gradually in order to broaden his/her knowledge and skills. I also start with a broader, more general topic and later sharpen the focus on a particular issue. I found that these methods help a lot in achieving my teaching goals.
