The school of Education in North Carolina prepared me well. I am above all flexible. My license reads K-8 and I have taught Art K-6 for a year, Second Grade for two years in NC. Then in 2001 I taught Title One reading in TN for a year then Fourth grade for three more years. My family moved to Northern VA and I taught Fifth grade there for two years before moving back to TN for a year where I taught 8th grade Algebra, and 7th grade English. Since moving to Maine I have only had oppurtunity to work with alterative special Ed with grades 6, 7 and 8.

I feel very strongly about the importance of a good education. Having a degree in English, I have much experience in using proper grammar, technical writing skills and creative writing skills. I have tutored students in the area of English, biology, history and some spanish.
I have always loved working with children. Through my experience as a special education instructor, I have learned children can learn in a variety of ways. My teaching philosophy is that each child has different strengths, and it is imperative to tailor an educational program to these strengths. One of the first graduates of a dual degree program from Lesley College(www.lesley.edu),I received a BS/MEd in Early Childhood Education specializing in Early Intervention in 1999. Beginning in June of 1999, I raised my three children full-time. During that time, I worked part-time as a Therapeutic Mentor for PSC of Maine(www.provcorp.com). PSC is a behavioral health agency that serves at-risk school-aged children and their families.
