Anyone can be a great student with the right instruction.

I have taught overseas and in the United States from 1984 until June of 2014 teaching students from all over the world including the US, Spain, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, China, Thailand, Poland, Palestine, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama, and other places that may have slipped my mind. I have taught students from seven years old to seventy years old. Teaching is my passion, and I believe we should all be life-long learners. Learning should be fun and interesting, not boring and rote memorization.

My comments on tutoring Geography : Very familiar with world, national, and state geography.

My experiences come from a mix of studies and real life application. I have studied various forms of writing, from professional, creative, and argumentative; these include gather sources and properly citing them in both MLA and APA formats. My personal applications of these writing materials have been for personal use in working on short stories and poems. I have an extensive history with drawing, mainly through personal sketches (both cartooning and realism). While in college, I have also studied several techniques that have greatly improved my drawing practices in the form of realistic drawing.
My teaching style is very hands on, and student focused. I like to connect with whoever I teach on a personal level so that they can feel comfortable with me as a tutor and with themselves while learning how to approach old problems in new ways.

Best Tutoring By Far.....

I enjoy teaching any age student, but more than that I get satisfaction when that student attains their goal. I believe in using the Socratic method of teaching and allowing the student to get their own answers rather than just telling them. I seek to develop and foster great students who will attain excellent careers. This method can be adapted to fit any student of any age.
I started tutoring students middle and high school prior to graduating college. I have taught part-time college students at various institutions since 1996. I also have worked as an independent tutor part-time. I have more than 30 years of experience teaching as a one-on-one tutor and as a college instructor. I currently teach at Wake Tech Community College. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is fairly laid back. I believe that all students possess the potential to learn. Teaching should be done in a multisensory method to appeal to students' senses and to help them succeed as best as they can. Each student is an individual and should be treated with respect. The learning environment that teachers provide should be nurturing, structured, and interesting to allow for students to reach their full potentials. While every student may have some weaknesses, concentrating on a student's strengths is important to help them enjoy school and find success.
I attended a college preparatory high school, where academia was highly stressed and valued. Through hard work and much effort, I excelled in all subject areas earning above a 4.0 when I graduated. As a teacher, I truly believe that all children can be successful given the support and encouragement to do so. I also understand that all children learn differently and take great pride in varying my instruction strategies to meet the needs of a diverse classroom of children. I strive to incorporate as many hands-on activities as possible so that children can learn through discovery and trial and error. I believe that children learn more when engaged, and often times forget they are actually learning while exploring their surroundings!
My experience includes four years of teaching experience, one year in a preschool setting and three years in a public school setting. I graduated from Heidelberg College in 2004 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and a Reading concentration. From there I worked as a substitute teacher until getting my own classroom in 2006 I taught 3rd grade from January 2006 until June 2008. I left that position to pursue other career options. During my college experiences I often tutored students in Reading. While teaching, I tutored students in reading and math to prepare them for the End Of Grade Test. I am able to tutor students in any subject but Reading and English at all levels I consider to be my specialties.
I really enjoy working with students. My teaching philosophy is that all children can learn. I subscribe to the constructivism approach to teaching. This is where students scaffold their own knowledge from other experiences. I believe that if you can get a student interested in something they are mo ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have a BS in Elementary Education and just completed my sixth year of teaching at the elementary level. I have experience teaching grades 2, 3 and 4, and I'm comfortable tutoring students in all aspects of the elementary curriculum up through grade 8. While in college, I tutored fellow college students for two years in biology, English and math, and I was named Outstanding Tutor in my second year.
I believe that all children are capable of learning--the trick is to figure out each child's individual style. I believe strongly in developing positive relationships with my students, and the rapport I have with them in the classroom or while tutoring has aided their successes. I tend to adjust my methods as I learn more about my students, and my students have experienced quite a bit of success in the past.

A Little Bit About Me...

I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.
I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade. It helped me understand the areas that I didnt and excel in the areas I did. I would like to give thas opportunity to someone else.

I have been a teacher in the Hoke County school district for 3 years now. I taught 5th grade for one year, then moved to second grade for the past two years. I have taught all subjects and have worked with students of various levels and abilities from Kindergarten through High school. I have had training in all areas of education through my undergraduate and graduate degrees, and have seen great success with the students in my classes.
I have found that the best way to teach students is to have them do, not listen. Most students at any level are very unmotivated to learn if someone is lecturing at them or working at a pace that is above what they are able to accomplish. I tailor my lessons to the students needs and provide ample opportunities for practice, revision, and remediation when necessary. I want each student to feel a sense of accomplishment every day and I strive to ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am patient, considerate, and able to adapt to each child's way of learning to be able to help them understand what it is that they are trying to learn. I enjoy watching children learn and build on their learning each day. I also get a great sense of accomplishment when I see the child grasping the concepts they have been trying to overcome.
I have seven (7) years of musical experience in concert band, jazz band, marching band, orchestra, and pep band. I also have tutored through the Boys and Girls Club along with a program my college inacted for students who were hearing-impaired, mostly in the areas of math and grammar. I have also graduated in the top 10% of my class, both in high school and college. I have maintained a 3.0 GPA in both high school and college. My strengths are math and grammar.

More About This Tutor...

Over the past six months I have been substitute teaching while pursuing my master's degree in elementary education. I am an avid reader and have experience, though not professional experience, in teaching children to read and write proficiently. I have worked closely with exceptional students in the role of a substitute teacher and believe that if given the opportunity I could thrive as a tutor.
Each individual learns in a different manner. Some students are visual learners, while others are better served by a hands-on environment. Using varied instructional strategies is a technique I have practiced when working with students who are struggling with a particular concept or subject matter. The key to learning is to be engaged in and excited about the learning process. If a student is struggling with a particular subject, establishing a connection to that subject is essential. ... read more

Although I graduated with a degree in Anthropology, it has always been my career goal to pursue teaching and education and to use my knowledge in Cultural Studies to progress my teaching success. My initial teaching experiences were in working with individuals with mental/developmental disabilities, teaching community behavioral and communication skills. I also have tutored students in the past in English and Social Studies. However, the bulk of my teaching has been in English as a Second Language. I had the opportunity to teach in South Korea for 3 years, where I worked with students of all ages in both private and public schools. Here in the US, I have taught recent immigrants English communication skills in New York City and in Miami Beach, working with University study abroad students and professionals looking to gain English communication skills and obtain various certification ... read more
