I graduated with honors from the Air Traffic Control Operators Course in 1983 with a 97% average. I was selected for instructor duty in 1986 and received extensive training on various instructing and teaching modalities along with counseling techniques. I enjoyed teaching so much that I went back to that profession, once again teaching for the air force from 2001-2003. I left that job to serve in Afghanistan as a civilian contractor as an air traffic controller and Chief Air Traffic Control Training.
