I love teaching and working with children and peoples of all ages. I look for each individuals way of learning and apply an apporpriate method that will make the material understandable for the particular student. Sometimes, experimenting with a student and trying different techniques is the best method. Having a student use flash cards, reading aloud, or having the material read to the student are a few of the ways I use to convey material to be learned.I believe that it is a teachers job to identify learning blocks to help a student achieve to the best of his or her ability. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I was heavily involved in volunteering and mentoring in everything from education to community outreach programs. After I received my undergraduate degree, I became a corps member in the 2003 Teach for America corps. As a corps member, I served as a member of a national service corps of outstanding recent college graduates of all academic majors who commit two years to teach in under-resourced urban and rural public schools.
