My comments on tutoring ASVAB : I have worked with both 12 grade students and college level students on taking the ASVAB test. We work on all sections dealing with the test. Mechanical, word problems, math and englis.

i use a combination of both lecture, visuals, powerpoint,etc.
I have taught k-12 and college level as well. I have a BA from CSUF and a teaching credential fro Chapman University. I have taught and coached volleyball,softball and basketball. I have taught both AP Government and Economics to high school students. I have taught junior science, math and social studies. I also have taught high school World, U.S.

I like my job very much, because teaching math gives me opportunity to percuade each student in his/her talent to solve each life problem. There is a great relationsheep between an abstract mathematics problem and real life situation. I like my students and want to help them.
I was born in Kiev, former the Soviet Union and at 1969 I was graduated from Kiev Pedagogical University with BA in math. FROM 1970 till 1991 I was a teacher of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus at Kiev High School #4. From 1995 till 1998 I was working as a math tutor at Sylvan and Huntington Learning Centers in Los Angeles. Since 1998 till 2010 I was working as a math teacher at Fulton College Prep School teaching Algebra1, Algebra2, ang Geometry. As a Literacy Professional, I have a decade of experience teaching adults to read. My specialty was in showing volunteer tutors how to teach dyslexic adults and adolescents. I was instrumental in establishing both the first Workplace ESL program in Carson and in supporting dropouts in the community. When I left the program to do research, I had satellite programs running from Lomita to Inglewood.
I am a direct teacher. I look for what works and try not to use what doesn't work for too long. Especially when dealing with dyslexics, too much "teaching" has led to failure.
