Sculpting is one of my top subjects! I was a sculpture minor at the College of Santa Fe. I won the Sculpture Department award in the 2009 CSF juried art show, and won 2nd place in the 2010 CSf juried art show.

I've been involved in arts and writing from a very young age. In college I followed these interests and graduated with a BA in Creative Writing while also minoring in Sculpture. In the past I've worked with Elementary School aged children in a after school and summer day camp setting and helped them with everything from essays to art projects, I taught High School students art in a "Teen College" program hosted by my college.

My main goal is for the student to achieve understanding to ensure long term learning and positive changes. My teaching style is to put the student's preferred learning style(s) together with the learning goal to create a good attitude toward learning. I use hands-on methods to engage the student actively in the learning process. I am patient and able to identify areas of difficulty for improvement. I believe that the role of a teacher is to capture the curiosity of students by providing them with lessons and activities that require them to think outside of the box. Such activities should be hands-on and encourage the students to use their senses. I agree with John Dewey, the famous education philosopher, who believes that it is beneficial when teachers use experiential learning because it engages students and presents them with direct experience and focused reflection, which in turn, increases knowledge, develops skills, and clarifies values. In my teaching I stress fundamental design principles, technique and color theory. I am also invested in exposing students to art history which I believe enriches,informs and helps to shape a students own individual style. I have instructed adult classes in oil painting that focus on the figure, landscape and portraiture. Currently I implement arts integrated programs for K-8 in the Chicago Public Schools as a contractor.
In my teaching I employ communicative tools to facilitate both individual and group instruction.
