A Little Bit About Me...

I have my Masters in Business Administration and am currently a law student at McGeorge School of Law. I believe one on one tutoring is critical at any age. I am well versed in math, reading, and test prep! I am very energetic and believe in positive reinforcement and the idea that there are no stupid questions. When a student feels free to ask anything they don't fully understand it allows for a firm foundation to be built that will support a deeper understanding in a topic!

In a one-on-one situation, I prefer dialogue. Assuming the student does the assigned work before the session, I find that a informal, relaxed conversation on the subject matter at hand encourages the student to further explore the addressed topic. If I am familiar with the student's extra-curricular interests, I attempt to relate the subject matter to such interests. I find that questioning the student in a conversational manner produces the best results, as opposed to the more stringent (i.e. boring) task of fill-in-the-blank worksheets. For writing assignments, I ask the student to write a paragraph which we then go over line-by-line so the student has immediate feedback on any errors.
Having homeschooled my children (eldest is attending a top 20 public university)and volunteering extensively in the school community, I have become familiar with a wide variety of learning styl ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I enjoy watching the “light bulb” turn on when a student or employee grasps a certain concept I’ve taught them. I have witnessed this rewarding experience many times throughout my career. I am patient, easy going, and considerate. My approach is to use real world examples or familiar analogies to help the student better understand a problem or concept. I have found this approach to be helpful while assisting my own daughter with her school work over the years. My goal is to help your child find academic success too.
I have earned a BS degree in Accounting from Penn State University and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Virginia Tech, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of business management, business law, finance and accounting.
