Teaching children of all ages is my passion. A few of my skills include the ability to be able to communicate with children on a level they understand, assess their learning style, and provide access to materials that will enhance their learning. In addition to my education and work experience, my teaching style derives primarily from my experience as a High School football coach. As an individual with business field experience and a bachelor degree, I have gained a wide array of experience. I have written all forms of papers, documents, and instructions as well as designed statistics, and testing methods. My career in education has taken place in unique and interesting locations and has provided me with experiences in meeting the dramatically different educational needs of young people. I believe in providing students with challenges and in supporting their efforts to meet those challenges. I am seeking to participate in an environment which focuses on learning skills AND the personal development of each student. I have many years of teaching and administrative experience in Hawaii, Saudi Arabia and Washington. .
I believe firmly in the need for “active” learning in the classroom. Students must be challenged and see the value in what is being taught. Project and product oriented lessons and activities best serve the student. I believe any curriculum can be enlivened to meet the needs of our young people and provide young citizens with the tools they require for success in later ... read more

I enjoy teaching kids of all ages and get along well with them while maintaining a degree of respect from them. I am capable at keeping them on task, even with challenging personalities. I enjoy doing hands-on work as well as print focused work. I have developed patience working with my own six kids in our home. I believe strongly that one-on-one tutoring is the most effective way to help a child achieve and any child will do well when the teaching is tailored to their needs. I will work with parents and students to discover the best possible approach for their child. I do not believe in the one-size-fits-all method of educating a child.
Although I value my college degree in biology and formal education, my real love for learning and teaching has been honed over the years teaching my own kids at home. I've homeschooled them in every general subject for the last eight years. ... read more

I am very flexible with my communication style, and can easily and quickly assess and tailor my teaching style with whomever I am teaching. I like thinking of sharing knowledge as a mutual endeavor, and less like a one way street. While I may "know" more about a particular subject, it is always refreshing to share knowledge with others who may develop a different, unique, and interesting perspective with the material, as human development and advancement does not happen alone. I firmly believe children often have the best ideas, as they are unhindered by the nay sayers of the adult world, and tend to explore with their imagination and sense of wonder.
As one of only 60 graduates in the Biochemistry&Molecular Biophysics program, I have extensive training in mathematics, physical/organic chemistry, and biophysics. My double major in Molecular&Cellular Biology couples biological s ... read more
