My teaching style emphasizes the differences between children, especially with regards to learning styles. Different children comprehend and understand in unique ways - while one may understand best from tactile or visual demonstrations, others learn best simply by hearing. Even within the same student, certain concepts are best understood in atypical ways. I firmly believe that as an educator, my job is to be flexible and creative in devising appropriate teaching methods for each child - what works for one will not always work for another. I have almost 10 years of experience of teaching students for the SAT,GRE, and specific subjects, combined. It started during my freshman year (1999) at Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). I began tutoring when I was an undergraduate at the Univ. of Maryland, College Park. I joined an outreach club called Beyond these Walls and through this I was a volunteer ESL tutor in Langley Park, MD. I tutored primarily Spanish-speaking adults in English grammar and conversation. This was a very important experience that helped me to learn how to work with students in an efficient and respectible manner. It was also rewarding to serve my community simultaneously.
