I then believe that each child needs the chance to complete a task with encouragement and success before independent work. Assessment should only be taken AFTER a child has experienced numerous chances for understanding, practice, and mastery. Upon the completion of my undergraduate studies, I was encouraged to sign up as a substitute teacher. This subsequently led to a full time position, where I taught Junior High Mathematics. I also coached wrestling and mentored the Quiz Bowl team.
