My comments on tutoring Reading : I have student teaching experience in the elementary school setting.

I studied Elementary Education during my undergraduate. During this time, I was a student teacher on several different occasions. I assisted the home room teacher and independently planned and taught lessons to the students. I have worked with grades 1 to 5 as a student teacher. I enjoyed teaching and was a very passionate teacher, but I realized that work as a social worker would allow me to help my students on a more personal level. During my work as a social worker, I worked with clients in the school and home setting. I educated teachers and school staff regarding my client's mental illnesses, and I developed classroom strategies to help my clients thrive in the classroom. All children can learn. When I meet a student there is never an issue of him or her being unable to improve. It is simply a matter of finding their motivation and highlighting their strengths. Unless a person feels that they can be successful they often give up, so I make it a point to raise student confidence while teaching new writing skills. Very few people are natural writers as it is a skill that must be developed. There are many different ways to do that, and none of them should be boring or painful; although all of them will take hard-work and a willingness to try new writing techniques.

A Little Bit About Me...

Having two wonderful elementary teachers, I was inspired to become a teacher. I graduated in 1988 with an Elementary Education degree. I began my career as a teacher's aide but soon decided to be a stay-at-home mom to my two children. In 1994, I began to home teach my three children. I graduated my youngest in 2008. In 2004, I substitute taught for two local school districts. In spring 2008 I renewed my teaching license. I received my first teaching job at a Christian school in Indianapolis where I taught first grade. The school downsized so I resigned allowing the tenured teachers to keep their jobs. (I was the last hired, therefore would have been the first to go). Since that time, I have been a substitute teacher and a tutor.
