I completed my Master's Degree in Reading Education and am state certified as a Reading Specialist K-12. Because of my extensive training in this area I can extend upon classroom teaching and work collaboratively to use research based methods to improve instruction. My teaching style would be to find the student's primary learning style and converting the information he or she needs into a format that fits that learning style. Each subject would be made as visible or concrete as possible, so that the student could interact with the material on more than just a visual/conceptual level. Showing the student how the material can relate to real-life situations and opportunities would be a vital part of the instruction. After high school, I recognized in myself a desire to work with elementary- and high school-aged children. I have recently graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with a Bachelor of Science and teacher certification degree. I student taught during the fall '09 semester. Student teaching provided many opportunities to work on various teaching techniques.
