A Little Bit About Me...

During my high school years, I was able to work with a young child through his first three years of elementary school. I tutored the child through basic math, science, reading, and various school projects. I obtained invaluable teaching experience on a personal and professional level. During college, I declared my major in Microbiology/Pre-med. While taking all these difficult classes, I tutored many other students in the subjects of Microbiology, Organic and General Chemistry, Physics, Physiology, Calculus, and Biology.
I enjoy tutoring children and adults because it makes me feel like I'm able to give a piece of what I know to someone that has trouble understanding that particular concept. I have a variety of experience. Most of my tutoring experience is with older students, aged 15 or older. However, I feel that I could work with younger kids as well. I love learning, and I get excited when a student fully grasps the material. I try and reinforce a teachers method of teaching. However, if repetition is not the issue, than I try and explain topics in different ways with lots of examples.I believe a tutor can really be a great supplement to the classroom teacher.
I graduated from Hope College in three years with a BS in Biology, a BA in Chemistry, and a minor in Classical Studies. I tutored throughout high school and college.
