My comments on tutoring Journalism : I have a master's degree in English and have taught composition at a community college.

I believe in working with students, not talking at them. I ask lots of questions and make sure students retain the information and can apply it to the real world.
I have experience teaching at a two-year university and a two-year college, in composition, communications, and public speaking. Education, teaching in particular, gives individuals the opportunity to give back what they have received. A Little Bit About Me...

In the summer time during my undergraduate career I worked as a camp counselor and coach in Colorado for children from the ages of 6-18. After completion of my BA I coached at my alma-mater. From there I decided to pursue my graduate education and took a scholarship in the althetic department at the University of Arkansas where I became an academic advisor for the football team for 4 years. In the summers during my graduate career I worked for Sylvan Learning centers. I began as an English teacher and filled in on Math when they were short handed. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style I would describe two-fold: First, my military background taught me their three step process; tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them what you told them and my own personal style which is a hybrid of the discovery method and guided question and answer. I have always been a firm believer in that there are no dumb or silly questions. If a child or an adult has a question, there is a reason for that question and it deserves the best answer possible. Some questions will be easily answered and some will require work, possibly on both parts, and that it why it’s called the learning process.
