My comments on tutoring Chess : I learned the game of Chess many years ago and have had experience playing many times over the years. I know the individual moves of all the pieces and the general goals and strategies to use in order to win the game.

I have over 30 years of experience with infants, children, adolescents, and families, including work with infants and children in development of age appropriate skills. Much of my educational background revolved around varying disabilities, their behaviors, and their causes and effects. I have also had substantial experience working with special needs populations in the areas of developmental delays, medical, emotional, and mental health needs, working in teaching, clinical, supervisory, case management, and service coordination positions. I worked as a teacher in a private school for children with dyslexia. My position was as a Language Fundamentals Teacher and I was trained using the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

I love learning and the precision arts such as mathematics. This has driven me to begin in a computer career. I spent almost two decades applying my computer skills. Learning has never stopped for me. But then I love the outdoors and working with my hands. I have taught myself the carpentry trade and the concrete business. I started out by sitting down with the manuals and memorized the building codes before I built my own house. Recently I applied mathematics to a roof I was building. Simple, yes, but not everyone would take the time to lay it out on paper and get accurate measurements. I hope one day that I will be able to combine mathematics with real life applications as I home school my own son.
