I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten Endorsement, M.A.E. degree, and a Master of Arts degree in Special Education with minors in the following: Learning Disabilities, Mildly Mentally Handicapped, Seriously Emotionally Handicapped. I have taught at the elementary level in both general education classes and special education classes and at the high school level in special education classes.
I enjoy teaching and find it very rewarding. I believe that all children can learn and it is the teacher's role to find the learning style of his or her students and to plan lessons and activities to meet their needs. At Purdue University I took all Engineering degree mathematics courses. In addition, I took five statistical cources, three of them were graduate level. At AlliedSignal, I received a week's training to teach three day courses in Total Quality Leadership to employees. Over the course of one year, I conducted twenty four courses with a partner facilitator. One company I worked for was a supplier to Caterpillar. In the course of mutual problem solving, I was able to be certified as a Green Belt.
My teaching style is to provide several ways to solve a problem. Since learning is done in different ways, one of the solution methods will turn on a light bulb and the student will "get it". I bring additional materials and new ways to remember. Last fall I tutored a fifth grader in mathematics. I provided note cards for him in the various solution formulas.

As a writing consultant what I loved hearing about was when students became more confident and improved to the point of independence. Because of this my teaching style involves breaking down the writing process into a format that is understandable for the student and using the foundations of their learning.
