I graduated from Ronald Reagan High School with a 4.6 GPA in the second graduating class ('08), then went on the NC State University to study Engineering, where I jumped in between various Engineering programs for three years before simply deciding to take a break and truly figure out what I want to study. While this may deter several people from choosing me, I know that if you met me and/or any of my teachers from any grade level, they/I could certainly set the record straight, as I am quite a smart person, I have simply struggled with getting my life into an appropriate schedule. I began tutoring during my sophomore year of college in the fall of 2006 when I was informed of a wonderful community service opportunity at a local church. The program was geared toward helping elementary, middle, and high school students test at or above grade level proficiency in mathematics and computer literacy. A Little Bit About Me...

As seen from above, I have valid tutoring experience in both middle grades and HS. I was in the student teaching program at Wake Forest and upon graduation, I was a substitute teacher in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School system. I also participated in the Junior Achievement program in the Piedmont NC region for over 5 years. I am currently a tutor with the "No Child Left Behind Program."
I am a disciplinarian. I have an excellent ability to gain a students attention, keep it and the results of my students have been well above average. I have a knack to bring into the classroom, outside events (latest ball games, Olympics, etc.) to establish a 'bond' between myself and the student. This allows me to gain their confidence as well as not create a bored atmosphere. I find this very important, especially with the more difficult students.

My teaching style is to first teach the basic principles and then teach how they can be extended and used to solve problems. By helping students understand the fundamentals and problem solving techniques, they are able to think for themselves. This allows them to think more independently and solve a wider variety of problems without relying on memorization.
I have experience in engineering which includes a solid understanding of math, calculus, statistics as well as physics.
