I have always loved the school environment. I have always been focused on learning as much as I can and this passion for learning has helped me get a bachelors degree in chemistry and learn how to speak, read and write Russian. I try to share what knowledge I have with others. I wrote a chemistry study guide for organic chemistry to help students learn the complex subject. Currently I tutor calculus and algebra on-line. I love doing this, but would also prefer more of one on one face to face kind of setting. I can tutor chemistry, calculus or algebra and would love doing so.

A Little Bit About Me...

I beleive that all students have a unique learning style, and that a good teacher can figure out how to reach a student. If a student does not understand a subject or concept, I employ different methods (visual, hands-on, abstract, manipulatives) etc. I am extremly patient, and don't believe that students are smart or dumb, I believe all students can learn equally well,if their strengths are tapped.
I have homeschooled my son, who has ADHD and doesn't take medication, from Kindergarted to 6th grade. He is now in school and is a virtually an A student. I can teach just about any subject, even subjects I do not have an education in, for example, the last two years, my son had a desire to learn Latin, so I taught him Latin as I learned it myself. I really enjoy awakening a child's passion for reading and writing. I enjoy teaching kids who are have different learning styles.

I do believe that all children learn differently and my FIRST goal is to find out how that child learns best and go around the child's needs---not expecting the child to learn how I teach and limit that child. Because of my experiences in the past, I've had great opportunities of working with Special Needs children of which is a grea example of finding the way the child learns best. I love teaching children and I love learning along with them as well. I love HANDS-ON learning, allowing the child(ren) to explore in order to learn about the subjects and about themselves as well. During my time at Concordia College, I was a strong tutor and office manager for the Reading/Writing Center, helping with composition in both English and Spanish. My grammar and usage knowledge is quite extensive, and I love tutoring writing and composition. I've also done quite a lot of tutoring in the ESL environment, as well as tutoring elementary math and reading.
I see my job as that of facilitator: the student is there, the information is there, and the student is the learner. During college, I discovered how much I truly enjoyed learning, and that drove me to take every elective course I could fit into my class schedule. I hold a BA in Biology, with a minor in Spanish.
