I believe that all children learn differently and at different levels and as a teacher, you need to recongize that and adapt your lessons to your students so they can achieve. For social studies, most student think that class is all about taking notes and reading from the book but I put a twist on all of my lessons. I do a lot of group projects, I have the students do presentations for each other on the material and also reanacts of big events to help the students understand what really happened with that specific event and how it impacted history.
As a recent graduate from Westminster College, I have earned a BA in History and my PA teaching certificate for 7-12 in Social Studies. My favorite aspect of coaching, teaching, and tutoring is the personal connection I build with my students. As a student, I did not adapt well to traditional educational settings, and so I seek to create a nontraditional environment for my students that involves kinetic, visual, and auditory stimulation. Finding my student's motivation to learn is key to my success as a teacher. I strive to make each learning experience new and meaningful. However, perfect practice makes perfect, and repetition is an important aspect of turning new material into "old hat."

A Little Bit About Me...

I obtained a degree in Fine Art from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2007. I have experience working in multiple artistic mediums. My art work has been displayed at Planet art gallery in Mt. Lebanon Pa and also at Erie Art Museum. I enjoy doing volunteer work, I taught cheer leading at St. Anne school in Pittsburgh pa. I have also taught dance classes at 3D Dance studio in Pittsburgh Pa.
