Let the young teach the young

Even though I am young, I do know how to convey teaching skills with the "up-to-date" mind set of today's generation. The main experience I have is helping fellow school mates and family with the problems they are having with school work. I did finish high school with a diploma. As a substitute teacher, I try to engage the interest of all the students by greeting them by name initially as I welcome them to their classroom. Easing the tension when someone messes up by asmitting that everyone blows it at some point is always a hit. Three teachers impacted my life not only as a result of the content of their classes but in their delivery. All three approached learning as an adventure. Even though the topics ranged from sixth grade mathematics to fluid dynamics each teacher keyed their presentation on the reception of the students. If the first presentation didn’t get the topic across an alternative presentation was made, often in a humorous vein. Students were never allowed to feel inadequate. When working towards my teaching certification I was in many classrooms from Kindergarten to 12th Grade in Pueblo School District 60. After graduation I applied and got a teaching job and I taught at Skyview Middle School in District 49 for 4 years teaching Ancient Civilizations. Before that I was a substitute in District 8, 2, 3, 60, 48 all southern Colorado school districts.
