I enjoy tutoring those who are in Middle School or High school. I feel as though they tend to have a higher capacity for sustaining attention. Those are unique ages that can really build a foundation for later education. I believe that one-on-one time is essential in learning. Some people might learn well in a large group, but others learn much better when time is spent on explaing specific details. I find the most enjoyment when a tutee finally links the core concept and is able to solve more difficult problems on their own.
I am currently a Senior at Bethel College. I will recieve a bachelor's in Psychology at May 1, 2011. I have been tutoring since the summer of 2010. I am both an Early Childhood Specialist in General Education and a Special Educator for all grades. I am able to identify and remediate learning problems. My main goal is for the student to achieve understanding to ensure long term learning and positive changes. My teaching style is to put the student's preferred learning style(s) together with the learning goal to create a good attitude toward learning.
