I believe that a big part of teaching is listening and observing. Not every student learns the same way, so it is important to be patient and try to understand what works best for the student. In many cases, examples are helpful in learning. Examples that are tailored to a specific student (e.g. drawing correlations to cooking for measurements, or sports for averages) can be a great basis for understanding concepts. I started teaching tennis to juniors at the age of 16. I enjoyed that very much. For close to 10 years I taught at a country club in Connecticut.
