I have been very fortunate to have worked with many different age groups and in many different settings, since I first began working in the education field in 2000. I am a certified Special Education teacher with a BS in Special Education with a major concentration in Reading. I have worked with students from Kindergarten through 8th grade. I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring than most. I believe I'm an effective tutor because I remember the exact same difficulties and questions I had as a student and can relate to their frustration. Most people as well as myself are visual learners thus I teach by working several examples and gradually increasing the difficulty at a pace set by the student. I would rather spend a whole tutoring session working a few examples the student completely understands as opposed to several problems with no understanding.
