I believe children learn by experiences and examples. Making it relevant and interesting makes them to want to learn. They begin to understand the purpose for learning the material. Children have different learning styles and every child doesn't learn at the same rate. Teachers must realize this when planning lessons. Students need to know that to have the basics such as a home, a car and food for their family, they need an education. I have spent the last four years teaching World History, Government, Economics and Learning Strategies at Gentry High School. I enjoy being able to work with children and being able to positively impact their lives whether that be through empowering them to succeed or teaching new skills. Throughout my graduate studies I worked as a substitute teacher from grades pre-k-12; however I especially enjoyed working with younger children as it allows for more creativity and thinking outside of the box. I would consider myself to be very patient, open-minded and understanding of every individual's needs. I understand the fact that everyone has a different learning style and would be able to adapt to the individual. I prefer hands-on activities and using creative outlets to convey educational information as it often allows for easier absorption of material.
