A Little Bit About Me...

Everyone absorbs knowledge differently so it is important to cater to each student's particular needs. I am a very hands-on learner and I feel that is the best way to be taught, especially outside of a classroom setting. By getting the body involved in the learning process, the mind is kept stimulated.
I have helped tutor since I was a freshman in high school. I began working with kindergarteners through third grade students on reading and writing. Throughout my sophomore year of high school I tutored middle school math students (ages 11-14) and helped to train our "Mathalon" team. During high school, I tutored for the Upward Bound program. I tutored fellow high school students in math, science, english, and history. I taught biology undergraduate laboratories during graduate school. My background is math and science. I have experience preparing exams/quizzes and grading exams, quizzes, and research papers. My math courses (taken, not taught) include Algebra, Calculus I, and Statistics (elementary and linear). During my years as an undergraduate student I tutored many of my fellow classmates in biological sciences including but not limited to the following subject areas: genetics, molecular biology, general biology, human anatomy and physiology and writing intensive requirements. A Little Bit About Me...

I pursued my degree in Biotechnology with the intent of continuing my education with a PhD in Molecular Microbiology. Instead, I have worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a total of 5 years as an Analytical Chemist. I was a Trained Trainer at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for 2 years which means I completed a program on how to teach other employees to perform tasks in a method that maximized retention (allowed them to remember the process well). I have solid grammatical skills honed while writing professional reports.
My teaching experience to date has been in a professional setting. I relate best to high school and college students because these levels are what I am used to dealing with.
