My passion for education and learning translates very well to students/adults whom I educate on a subject. I am an empathetic person by nature and this allows me to put myself in the students shoes and think like them, regarding what their learning curve is, what method of teaching they are most reciprocative to and are they understanding or not ? I am very patient and strive very hard to ensure students are "learning" - not just studying to get a good score. My teaching style is a combination of techniques I found successful during my educational studies. First, I believe the teacher has to be passionate and have a true love for what he or she is doing; this is passion, or lack thereof, is evident when interacting with a student. Second, patience is of upmost importance. In my experience, nothing inhibits learning as much as a rushed or pressured feeling when one is trying to learn. Finally, it is critical to find a way for the student to relate to the material in a way they understand. Each person is different and the teaching style should reflect that; not everyone fits nicely into a cookie cut template of learning. Every person has the potential to learn anything as long as the opportunity is fairly presented – as a parent of a special needs child, this is something I know very well.
