A Little Bit About Me...

I spend much of time making the student understand that it is okay to feel behind in a subject and that the student should believe in himself. This belief is built on continued practice on fundamentals that I watch them go through but only ask questions when I see them going astray. Everyone needs to learn the material for his or herself. My place is to make sure they learn the right methods to solve the problem and ensure that they know those methods beyond the tutoring session.
I have been tutoring professional for six years and teaching for five. I am certified by the state of Tennessee to teach secondary math. I have worked with all levels of students, from remedial to gifted. I have worked from age 7 through adult learners and had a positive impact at each age and level.

As a graduate of Arkansas State University with a degree in history, I achieved an excellent rapport with the faculty and the administration in the pursuit of my degree. I enjoy helping students reach their full potential & feeling a sense of accomplishment. I received a Liberal Arts education because my parents thought as did my teachers, professors, & I that a Liberal Arts education teaches creativity, flexibility, sound, logical reasoning, & good judgment. It is these ideas which I want to impart to my students. My philosophy of education includes utilizing the student's background in order to help the student discover & create meaning so that he or she can learn & better understand the material they must learn in order to become successful. I love to read; I always carry a book with me, & I share this love with my students. Every successful person in life that I know of reads; reads well, & reads often.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate student, I was able to expose myself to many subjects. In the past, I have taken advanced courses in math, science, English, and history. I am currently completing my Doctorate of Audiology. As apart of this curriculum, my studies emphasize physical science, anatomy, and statistics.
I recognize that everyone learns differently. My teaching style is flexible, yet productive. I believe that it is important to find ways to make the subject interesting and tangible. Often, subjects like math and science can be difficult because they are not always concrete. I look for ways to make the topics make sense at basic level before building upon that ground work.

I also believe that students can thrive when they are given a positive and motivating environment. My goal is to make a positive impact in my students lives'.

A Little Bit About Me...

All my life I have loved to learn. I thrive on academics, and I remember my college and high school days with fondness. It makes me sad to see students struggle, their frustration pushing out any passion for what they are learning. As a tutor, I try to instill my own passion inside of them. Learning is exciting, and sometimes a change in perspective is all that is needed to bring understanding. I work with the student to find the best, most effective, approach to a subject. I am patient, friendly, and I'm very good at what I do. There is nothing so rewarding as to see the light of understanding come into the eyes of my students.
Growing up, I was always very gited academically. I never struggled with school, and learning was an easy pleasure. I graduated as valedictorian, and when I got to college I started tutoring to help others that had more difficulty in class. I didn ... read more
