Anyone CAN learn ANYTHING...I promise. :)

I believe that happy people not only learn faster, but they also retain more. Far too much of our kids' lives are spent cooped up indoors. Therefore, I like to take an open-door approach to learning and like to schedule as many sessions as possible out of the house/library/etc. Each session is guaranteed to be filled with fun learning experiences that the pupil will be sure to remember. A session with a child that needs reading/spelling/comprehension, for instance, could very well be done at the zoo. I want my kids to learn, and have fun doing it! Our planet has so much to offer in the ways of educating our children! I never have to look far to find a teaching/learning opportunity!

My teaching style includes using the strengths of the interests of the child in teaching. To aid my child to read, I used his favorite card game (Yugioh) to aid him. I am hands on while teaching. I make sure that the learning is not boring. I will use card games to aid in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. I use a combination of words plus visuals to aid the learner. I will write down the formulas or work out a problem for the student so that the example can be followed on other problems. I use acronyms for teaching as well. I also use these aids to help with memorization of facts.

I love working with children and have two of my own. I am able to meet children where they are. I love to see the "Aha" moment when children figure out a concept. A lot of schools and classrooms are overcrowded and students need that special attention.
As a Licensed Master Social Worker, I have worked with various at-risk populations, including child with behavioral and emotional problems.
