Painting is one of my top subjects! A skilled realism painter; highly trained in both acrylics and oils. Also skilled in the color theory and abstract fields.

I like to encourage kids on how to see the world in simple shapes and lines; I feel as though learning art is learning how to "see". My students find that they have more ability than they previously believed, and that believing in themselves is the most important asset that an artist, or anyone, can have. I help them become confident! My techniques stretch beyond the paper and canvas so that, in the end, whether they become skilled artists or not, they learn to appreciate their own "unique-self" and individuality.
My artistic background is wide and rich. My style incorporates exercise kinesiology, developmentally appropriate materials and hands-on learning activities that are meaningful. I have been learning about Integrated Thematic Instruction, and I feel the incorporation of these views of valid lessons that are hands-on with learning objectives that match the needs of the developing child, match what I believe to be a whole child teaching approach.
As a student in Health Science, i.e. Medical Technology, I worked in a genetics laboratory for 14 years learning lab instrumentation, trouble-shooting, cytogenetics and professional etiquette. A Little Bit About Me...

My style of teaching, especially with tutoring, is to find out what kind of learner my student is: tacit, oral, or verbal. Then the lesson style can be geared to that, while leading the student to become more aware of the other abilities and options. Also, it is imperative that students understand why they are learning what is being presented to them. Cause and effect leads to greater awareness and more objective, analytical, and critical thinking. Creating a reason and success in learning, making it practical and fun can lead any child to want to continue to grow in any area of interest, and tie that back to other skills which my not be so appealing at this point in their life.
