During my course as a math tutor, I’ve found one on one tutoring to be most effective. Each child presented different needs and was receptive to different teaching methods, so I would meet with them individually. I believe each child is just as likely to succeed as the next one, and as a tutor, it is my job to encourage and instill confidence in them.
As I approach my college graduation, I have realized how fortunate I am to have been given the opportunity to attend college. I understood the importance of understanding math in life early on and my Finance degree only validated that notion. Early this year, I began tutoring advanced math to middle school kids and found it to be a rejuvenating to see young minds eagerly waiting to be academically challenged.

I believe children construct their own knowledge of the world around them. They need to be active participants in their educational process rather than passive recipients. I also believe that learning must be engaging, meaningful, and fun. All children are individuals with their own unique learning styles and developmental patterns. I know that what works for one child may not work for another child, and I generally try multiple approaches until I find the one that works.
