My passion and goal in life is to teach and continually be taught, because I certainly believe that the human being never stops learning. A Little Bit About Me...

While at Purdue, I studied English literature and writing (academic and creative). I began college studying English education. This gave me experience in the classroom at the observation level. I pursued courses exploring classroom techniques, dynamics, and the incorporation of technology. My minor in Communication introduced me to Associated Press style and improved my copy editing skills. My second minor in Art fostered my ability to approach problems creatively. While I eventually switched my major to English, I have always loved teaching. In high school, I was given the unique opportunity to go into an elementary classroom on a daily basis and tutor students in reading through STRIVE (Students and Teachers Reaching in Volunteer Efforts). I have always had a passion for helping youth. My experience has been primarily with elementary level students including reading, math, science, the arts and English. I have been a student aide as well as a volunteer tutor at several different churches.
I love getting to know each child before determining exactly the teaching style he or she needs. I love to keep their attention by using my creativity to inspire them and look at things in a different way. I want them to love learning and to retain the information, each in their own way.
