A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout the course of my education, I have had the opportunity to work with many great instructors and professors; learning the qualities and characteristics of what comprises an effective teacher. I currently possess two degrees, a Bachelors of Arts in Social Science with an emphasis in Teaching Preparation and a Masters of Science in Environmental Management. While I consider myself highly competent and comfortable teaching anything within California’s kindergarten through twelth grade curriculum, my strengths lie within my background and education in science and mathematics. Through my education I have learned the importance of inspiring others to take an interest in science. My time at these universities has also enabled me to not only learn the material taught in them but also how to apply that knowledge to situations that were not included in lecture. My educational background includes biology, genetics, ecology, chemistry (basic-organic), environmental sciences and policy, and laboratory work associated with these subjects. Beyond schooling I have experience teaching swimming lessons to people of all ages (infant to adult). These included private and group lessons along with lessons geared towards children with physical or mental challenges.

A Little Bit About Me...

When I entered college I was immediately drawn to tutor my peers as needed. I worked with the single mom's program at IVC and also did job coaching for the City of Long Beach Disabled program. Once I graduated from college I had the opportunity to join the Boys & Girls Clubs, specifically designing educational and technology programs. I enjoyed tutoring about 50 youth a day. As a result some parents requested that I run a special off hours program at their middle school to tutor the ADHD kids. Every child in that program raised their grades 60% over the course of the semester. Since that time I have honed the methods I have created to work with the "hard to reach" kids and have had tremendous success.
