If I wish to take a more open approach to my teaching, I include a blend of various styles which is very effective. Teacher-centered, where the teacher is expert and authority in presenting information works well with students who need little direction from the instructor, and/or those who accept responsibility for their own learning. While in other situations, I will take a learner-centered approach thus viewing my role as more of a facilitator of student learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

During my involvement with the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Office Training Corps, I contributed 2,000 hours of community enrichment education and tutoring to at risk and low income youth. As an Under Graduate student at the University of Arizona, my tutoring continued for high school and underclassmen students in the areas of Biology, Physiology and Anatomy. During my Graduate work at the University of Arizona, I independently taught laboratory sections for Reproductive Physiology and team taught 4 upper and lower division courses for the Department of Animal Sciences while continuing to tutor and mentor undergraduate and maintain a 3.6 GPA.
