A Little Bit About Me...

Although instructors/tutors have a preferred teaching style, I will often mix in some elements of other styles. If I wish to take a more open approach to my teaching, I include a blend of various styles which is very effective. Teacher-centered, where the teacher is expert and authority in presenting information works well with students who need little direction from the instructor, and/or those who accept responsibility for their own learning. While in other situations, I will take a learner-centered approach thus viewing my role as more of a facilitator of student learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

In addition to my undergraduate degree, I have many graduate credits in education including elementary math,science and reading. I have taught full time in an elementary classroom for 14 years and substitute taught for almost as many. My experiences include tutoring at the elementary and high school level.
I am of the opintion that all students can learn. If my method of teaching is not working, I will pursue all methods available by communicating with my peers for ideas. As an Under Graduate student at the University of Arizona, my tutoring continued for high school and underclassmen students in the areas of Biology, Physiology and Anatomy. During my Graduate work at the University of Arizona, I independently taught laboratory sections for Reproductive Physiology and team taught 4 upper and lower division courses for the Department of Animal Sciences while continuing to tutor and mentor undergraduate and maintain a 3.6 GPA.
