Don't risk your grade/money on mere paper qualifications

My teaching style relies heavily on feedback from the client. I try to have a phone call with a student to learn what they are having difficulty with but also what their professor might expect from them. Then I get a good sense of their personality to understand the best way to get ideas across to them. There are often roadblocks to learning such as personal hangups or self doubt that must be addressed. Other times it is just a matter of understanding what the person does or does not get.
You will see many ads by former or current professors trying to make a buck on the side. They are terrible tutors - they spent their whole careers having students beg them for a better grade. My comments on tutoring English ESOL : Working on a MA in Applied Linguistics with an ESOL concentration

Aside from my degrees, I tutored fellow students (and even professors) in either Spanish or German throughout 2006-2010. I studied abroad in Costa Rica and Germany and lived in Spain for a year teaching English. I have extensive knowledge of both Latin American and Peninsular Spanish and my German is mostly Northern. I began learning Spanish in 2002 and German in 2004.
