Enthusiastic teacher seeks to work with a young mind

I've worked in the ESL (or related) field for a total of 8 years. I was a Foreign Language Expert in China for 3 years and am finishing my 4th year as a rater for the TOEFL exam. My approach to teaching can be best described as adaptive. My varied experience has enabled me to develop different methods for different situations. There is no "typical student," and it is my belief that a good tutor or teacher adapts his or her methods to an individual's learning style—not the other way around. However, there are some constants in the teacher-student relationship. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience is one that has taken me many different places to meet many diffrent people. I have always had a gift of helping others and conveying to them my knowledge. I obtained my BA in English Communication from Talladega College and also i have a minor in History. I have had a great deal of expereince in writng papers, essays, articles ,and reports. During my time in college, I also tutored Spanish speaking students in the usuage of the English language.
I would say my teaching style is more relaxed. I believe this helps one see students weaknesses and strengths better. It also allows one to compare the overall effect of teaching for each student. When I see a student falling behind then thats when I take action and try top get them where they should be in that area.

A Little Bit About Me...

Children need a good foundation to learning. My program of teaching includes vocabulary, grammar, composition, reading, and pronunciation. Of these skills the most important are reading and correct pronunciation. I incorporate TESOL methods such as The Communicative Approach, Graduated Interval Recall and The Rassias Methods into my teaching program because they stimulate learning that the student remembers and uses immediately. The methods I use ensure that the child will never get bored and will retain what they learn and will want to come back to learn more.
