My whole life I have had a love of education. I look forward to sharing this love with students and teaching them that learning need not be something to be feared. I am a very adaptable teacher who can easily modify my teaching to work for a variety of learners. My style uses a constructivist approach in which all students are viewed as unique individuals and are expected to take an active role in their education. Most importantly to me, I embrace mistakes and help my students to understand that mistakes as simply part of the learning process and not a dead end. My philosophy of my teaching style can be described as hands on, creative, child centered, yet with an emphasis on the traditional core subjects: reading, and math. My goal as an educator is to teach my students to develop a love for learning and a curiosity about the world around them. A child's character can besat be developed using a thematic, progressive approach.
I received my undergraduate degree and proceeded to begin my career as in inner city kindergarten teacher. I took several years off to start my family, and returned for fourteen more years as an inner city ESL/kindergarten teacher. I worked with children from many diverse backgrounds and I am knowledgeable in the multicultural field.
