I also work with the student to solve problems. Another approach I use is to never answer a question directly. I always ask them questions in a manner that allows them to be guided to the answer. I am Paine College graduate. I earned a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science in 2006. While at Paine College I took variety of science classes including organic chemistry, atmospheric science, and cell biology. Since graduating, I have spent two years as a high school math teacher. I have learned through my experience that many people have a "math-phobia" This is usually onset by a teacher or incident from their past. My main objective when working with people in math is to break down those fears. When this happens, without fail, the doors begin to open and learning becomes much easier for the learner.
