A Little Bit About Me...

As an international educator, I have taught in many different countries, many different subjects to a wide range of students of all ages. This experience has allowed me to develop a unique perspective and presentation style of materials. My primary focus has been in law and business; particularly, entrepreneurial arts and intellectual property. One must have excellent English language skills and a strong grasp of the social sciences to be successful.
I inspire students to explore their interests and to expand their horizons.

Shakespeare is one of my top subjects! Very skilled in reading and performing Shakespeare (as well as the work of his contemporaries). Can guide students in reading and analyzing the text, as well as teaching them how to perform scansion on the text (Iambic pentameter). Students will soon see that Shakespeare's not so scary after all!

I'm very laid back, but I know how to get results. I have always been a very disciplined student, but I realized pretty early in my academic career that unless I make the subject interesting for me, I'll never grasp the material. I make it a point to get to know every student so that I can personalize their learning style. The only way they'll learn and understand something is if they WANT to do so. I offer a different approach to things that students may not get in the classroom, to hopefully expand their interest in a subject they never thought they'd like.
I recently obtained my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, where I graduated in the top of my class with a 4.0. While there, I often tutored people in writing and research, as well as serving as a Teaching Assistant for various classes including: Theatre History, Voice for the Actor, and Shakesp ... read more

Certified teacher specializing in ACT

I believe every student can learn. The key is to find your student's strengths and inspire her or his internal motivation. One on one teaching makes a significant difference even in the most reluctant learners. For those who are motivated to earn their best score, I routinely see more than 3 point gains in Reading, Writing/English and Science on the ACT. Because of the family resemblance of standardized tests, you will see not only ACT score increases, but improved English and Math grades as well. While my specialty is Verbal and Science, I have a number of incredible strategies for the math section that can help your student answer 6-12 more questions correctly.

More About This Tutor...

I have taught both college and AP High School for college credit in the areas of Humainties, Religious Studies and English composition at three different institutions. Though I do well in large classroom settings, I prefer more personalized instruction settings. I think I would make an excellent tutor in the areas of English Composition and Literature and World History on both the high school and college level, and would likely do quite well to tutor high school French.
My teaching style is friendly and approachable. I find putting a student at ease in the beginning allows them to open up to me in order for us to both find out how he or she learns best, especially since I feel learning styles vary for each individual and often differs for some subjects. For example, I may want to use pictures and art to explore history versus reading and lecture type presentations.
