I began my tutoring experience in the fall of 2009 with a program called Breakthrough Manchester. It serves underprivileged students in the area who do not have the resources to succeed. They ranged from grade 5 to 8. With Breakthrough I worked one-on-one with students as well as in a classroom setting in which I conducted my own lessons. I helped students with a variety of subjects such as science, math, social studies, geography, and even organizational skills. I worked with children from all walks of life, including kids with disabilities. During my time at Breakthrough I also spent two days a week tutoring mentally disabled adults. I helped them with basic math and reading skills, as well as life skills.
I believe I have a natural ability to work with students of all ages. Tutoring and being able to help students understand certain topics is very rewarding for me. I ... read more

My main believe as an educator is that every child needs individual approach. Patience, tolerance, and dedication are integral parts of productive teaching. I try to understand the child’s inner world; it helps to unfold the student’s potential more fully. Depending on the age and background of the student I combine instructions, repetitions, special assignments, and making learning fun in different proportions. I give you and your child my best practice and knowledge; it leads to achieving excellent academic results. My goal is to cultivate a conscientious student and successful person.

My experience as art instructor provides me the opportunity to witness the valuable role art plays within the lives of children and young adults. As art students gain confidence in their skills they gain confidence within themselves. My goal is to encourage students to express themselves creatively while generating a life-long enthusiasm for art. Each student is a valuable and unique individual, and my teaching style reflects this. As art instructor I am a valuable resource of technical skills. However, there is no "right" or "wrong" way to make art. I have set lesson plans and objectives-- but students are encouraged to create art according to their artistic vision. This gives students the ability to further pursue their artistic goals.
Art and education has always played an integral part in my life, as witnessed by my college degree and professional career. My BA degree in film ... read more

Teaching comes second nature to me. I believe that all students can learn, but each person requires a different style of instruction in order to fully understand the subject. I provide multiple kinds of instruction while keeping a patient and easy going mentality. It is my goal to help each student not only come to understand the subject, but be able to apply it in real life settings. This type of teaching can make a difference in each of my students' lives.

I earned my degree in newspaper journalism at Syracuse University, one of the finest schools in the country for this program. Since that time, I have worked as a writer, editor, journalist and reporter for several major organizations, most recently as a content producer for Monster.com's Career Advice. This position involved working with freelance writers to mold their work into a better product.
I believe that helping young people with their writing is essential to getting them to properly express themselves, as well as get them ready to compete in the world of work and school. I love working one-on-one with students and showing them how to improve their writing. I am a tough editor but believe that constant practice is the key to becoming an effective communicator.
